hi guys--

I have been on a tape digitizing rampage. I just did all the old 1992 Vision tapes and the Come-Unity 1995 tapes (2-6, incuding ceremony). Now, look--these tapes are not available for purchase anymore and I think they are worth sharing. I just need to know how the DJs would feel about releasing them. Anyone have any advice?

thanks!

  • Hey Mike..

Can't speak for other dj's, but I have my own plans (in process) regarding my old tapes, so at this point I'm not really down with others re-releasing sets of mine in digital format..

I would like to hear the copies you have though, i don't know if I have them all..

    • Hi there!

That's great to hear that you are planning your own plans getting these tapes out there! You can imagine the quality of these tapes--I mean, the Vision ones are at least 12-13 years old--I basically digitized them so they wouldn't fall apart and so I could bust them out on my iPod, etc. If you are still playing on the 15th, I will bring some CDs with the recordings on them for your archives. The "Holy Grail" for me right now is to track down those "A-F" tapeset that was stolen from my car a very long time ago. I seem to remember "D" (I think it was your mix) kicking some serious ass--I remember a vocal sample in particular..something about "Roberto mixing it up" or something.

Anyway, I will hold onto them and make sure they don't get out in public.

      Thanks,
      mike

if you're talking about that old "friends and family" tapeset that had the Dali pictures on them, I have some of those still. I'd also love to get ahold of some of the recordings you have, assuming that folks are ok with letting it out. If commercial recordings are going to be available (especially if they have cleaned up sound), please let us know, and if you don't mind, give a complete description of where and when, with whom, etc. the set happened... some of us can't remember it that well :) no really though, it would be nice to be able to get recordings of particular parties that have been held fondly in memory for years at this point. Of course if you don't remember or aren't sure, well, you're in the same boat I am for some of these recordings. I may have a few recordings from this era too, if so I'll post it back here. Some of the tapes are pretty unmarked though, so... kinda catch as catch can on stuff like that... pirates of the digital era, gar! time fer some whiskey, cabin boy!
    • hi Jeno--

Sadly, I was not able to make your party with Markie (Annie and I are still kicking ourselves about it). I would be happy to send you a DVD with all of these tapes if you like (you can email me at "rikemomo@gmail.com") or I can get them to you when you come down here next time...there IS a next time ,right?

      thanks
